3 Spooky Events to Check Out Near Prospector Ranch This October!
~ Natalia Radcliffe ~
Fall has officially arrived once again!
Here in California, that means pumpkin flavored treats, (slightly) cooler temperatures, as well as fun events through October and November! Many places have Halloween-themed events in October. After all, you don’t want to just enjoy the thrill of being scared on just October 31. Today, we have 3 ideas for you on Halloween-themed events happening this October, all no more than about an hour from Prospector Ranch!
1. Los Angeles Haunted Hayride
Going 15 years strong, the Los Angeles Haunted Hayride event is back this year ready to scare the socks off of anyone who dares enter its premises. There are mazes to wander through, a live show with music that reminds you of the classic rock songs and plenty of nods to horror movies, and, of course, the haunted hayride itself.
The event takes place at nighttime, adding to the spooky atmosphere. It’s not recommended for children under 12, as some of the attractions can be quite scary. Tickets start at $29.99, and can be bought on their website.
2. Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights
Of course we have to include Universal Studios in here! Not only does it have tons of terror-filled experiences, we are also located near it! The Harry Potter section of the park has been taken over by Death Eaters, so if you’re brave enough to stand up to them, give it a try. There are also 8 haunted houses this year, from the notorious serial killer doll Chucky, to the terrifying events of Stranger Things 4, braving the terror of the Exorcist, and many more. If you are a video game fan, there is a The Last of Us haunted house you might want to check out, if you’re brave enough. In addition, there are three scare zones across the park. In these areas, be prepared to be jump scared. Someone could be in front of you at any moment…
Tickets start at around $70. The full list of the different ticket levels are on the website.
To wrap up, the Nights of the Jack event located in Calabasas is a spooky fun experience for everyone to enjoy. The highlight of the event is a walking trail that’s almost a mile of twinkling decorations and glowing pumpkins creating all sorts of fantastical scenes. Interested in how the pumpkins are brought to life? There is an opportunity to watch live pumpkin carvings from the experts. For adults, there is a Spookeasy where you can enjoy a craft beer, wine, or a spooky-themed cocktail.
Tickets are $29.99, and are only available online on their website. Parking is available, and is $9.99 for their parking pass, which can be pre-purchased on their website as well.
In sum, dear readers, if you are staying with us during this chilling month, there are plenty of scary-fun things to add to your itinerary.
Southern California sure doesn’t disappoint during this spooky season. We hope you don’t get too afraid. Cause, after all, what’s a little extra adrenaline?
