4th of July is almost here! This year marks the United State’s 250th birthday! As the holiday falls on a Saturday, that means more opportunities to fill your days with festive activities! Whether you are in the area for the day or are staying for the weekend (check out our 3 Airbnbs if you are looking for a place to stay!), we have compiled a list of ideas for you if you’re looking for something to do this 4th of July.

Best of all, all these places are near Prospector Ranch, so if you’re staying with us in one of our Airbnbs, you don’t have to drive far!

Santa Barbara’s 4th of July Celebration

If you want to celebrate the holiday with a peaceful view of the beach in the background, you might want to check out Santa Barbara’s fireworks and other activities they have during the day. The fireworks show starts at around 9pm at West Beach.

Leading up to the show, there will be live music by a variety of artists that you can enjoy at the West Beach Bandstand from 12:00pm all the way up until fireworks start, and food and vendor booths to explore and enjoy along the Cabrillo Boulevard Sidewalk at West Beach, open from 11:00 am to 9:00pm. You could make a day out of it if you wanted to!

There will be lots to see and do, from enjoying live music from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Band and country artist Justin Honsinger, seeing appearances from two Iwo Jima and two presidential lookalikes, and plenty of carnival games, lawn games, presidential bingo, and arts and crafts. In addition, at 12pm, there will be a special America 250 program featuring keynote speaker, Medal of Honor Recipient General Patrick Henry Brady. The event starts at 10:00am and ends at 5:00pm, so you can take your time exploring all it has to offer, enjoying the beautiful scenery of the grounds of the library.
