Ideas For Your Mother’s Day Getaway!

~ Natalia Radcliffe ~

Mother’s Day is right around the corner! It’s a day reserved just for the mothers and mother figures in your life, to show them all your appreciation and love. We at Prospector Ranch want to give you some ideas for activities, so all you have to worry about is getting there, not what you will do AND how to get there.

First things first: if you want to make it a weekend, why not stay at Prospector Ranch? We have 3 unique, comfortable Airbnbs for you to choose from, from a replica of a Conestoga covered wagon from the Oregon Trail days, a vintage 1972 Airstream, or a rustic Safari Tent. And, best of all, during your stay at one of our Airbnbs, you can get a relaxing massage in our bathhouse, if you so desire. How do you do this? We recommend reaching out to Brandon, the owner of Healing Miracle Massage, who will come to Prospector Ranch and give you a massage in our elegant rustic bathhouse, where you are surrounded by the relaxing sounds of nature.

So, after getting settled in your Airbnb and feeling all relaxed after a good massage, what activities you may want to do during your Mother’s Day weekend vacation?

Why not take a drive to Santa Barbara or Solvang, while you are here?

Santa Barbara!

Santa Barbara is only about an hour’s drive away from Prospector Ranch, perfect for a day drive! And who doesn’t love going to the beach? There is a lot to do when going to Santa Barbara, you’ll be sure to find something you’ll love.

Like going to the beach? You can visit the Santa Barbara pier.

Like animals? You can go to the Santa Barbara zoo.

Like history? You can check out the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History.

Absolutely love art? There is the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, or the Santa Barbara Arts and Crafts show. The show takes place every Sunday and Saturday on most major holiday weekends and is located on the beach, starting on Cabrillo Boulevard, going from Stearns Wharf to Calle Cesar Chavez.

Solvang!

If you are into visiting a small, quaint Danish town right here in Southern California, you’ll want to check out Solvang. There’s a lot to do in this town, from eating good food and drink, to shopping and checking out museums.

We recommend checking out some restaurants that sell some really good Danish food for your main meal of the day. When in Rome, as they say. The two that are our favorites are Bit of Denmark and The Red Viking. They both have really good Danish dishes that you can try. If snacking on sweets sounds more like your thing, we recommend checking out Olsen’s Danish Village Bakery or Mortensen’s Bakery for a variety of pastries that you can try. There are also multiple places that sell aebleskiver which essentially translates to “apple cake”, consisting of a bite-sized cake dessert that looks like an apple (hence the name), drizzled with a raspberry jam-type sauce.

If shopping strikes your fancy, there are a multitude of different shops along the whole city, sitting along street after street, selling all kinds of items, from souvenirs, to boutique items, to artisan items, and products unique to Denmark.

If you want to explore museums, there is the Hans Christian Anderson museum, Viking Museum, and Elverhøj Museum of History and Art, just to name a few, though there are many more. (See this link for a complete list!)

We hope this has been helpful for you in your Mother’s Day plans! And we know this is a few weeks early, but we with the best day to all the mothers and mother figures this Mother’s Day.
