3 Summer Events (Near Prospector Ranch) in Southern California to Beat the Heat!

~ Natalia Radcliffe ~Southern California weather can be great, but in the midst of summer it can be quite hot. It’s not unusual for temperatures to reach up to 100 degrees and more here.
Oooof.
So, what to do when you’re faced with a lazy summer day when you want to beat the heat?
Well, we have three ideas for you!
1. Ventura County Fair
Flocking to the beach is always an enjoyable escape from hotter temperatures. The Ventura County Fair is one such place if you’re looking for an alternative to the beach. Located just off the coast at the Ventura County Fairgrounds, it offers beach temperatures with lots of things to see and do, from food, to shopping at various vendors, and enjoying the display of various entries in contests from food, agriculture, livestock, photography, art, and much more. It’s around from July 30th to August 10. Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for those over 65, and $5 for children. Children 5 and under are free. 2. Conejo Recreation Park and District Concerts in the Park Series
It’s always cooler after the sun starts to go down. When the day feels too hot, don’t worry about it! Why not plan on something for the evening? Conejo Recreation Park and District has a Concerts in the Park series at Conejo Community Park during the summertime in the evenings. Various tribute bands perform, so there is something new every time! This year, the concerts start at 5 pm and end at 7 pm. Below are the different bands who will be performing:
Sunday, July 20: The Tina Turner Tribute
Sunday, August 10: Stepping Feet (Dave Matthews Band Tribute)
Labor Day Monday, September 1: Skynyrd and Frynds (Lynyrd Skynyrd Tribute)

3. Go to the Movies!
On a hot summer day sometimes you want nothing more than to sit in a room with the AC blasting in your face, not move, and simply chill. In that case, you might want to consider going and seeing a movie! Make an event out of it.
