And, we all know what July brings….

4th of July!

Multitudes of people join in the festivities on this holiday, celebrating the birth of the United States.

If you’re in the area or are planning on staying at one of our Airbnbs during the holiday weekend, we want to give you 5 ideas of free 4th of July activities near Prospector Ranch to add to your holiday festivities.

4th of July Fireworks Spectacular Event in Thousand Oaks

The Congo Recreation and Park District and City of Thousand Oaks is one option for fireworks this year. Taking place at the Fireworks Hill (above CRPD's Hillcrest Center/Admin Offices) the show starts at 9pm, and you can tune into KHAY 100.7 FM radio for a simultaneous patriotic radio simulcast to go along with your viewing of the fireworks. The Janss Marketplace and the Oaks mall are two places that provide great views.

Janss Marketplace

This event starts at 5pm, giving people the opportunity to find good seats, revel in a festive atmosphere, and enjoy snacks before the fireworks show later in the evening. Specifically, it features live music, children’s entertainment, and food booths. You get a great view of the fireworks from the rooftop of the parking structure. We recommend bringing folding chairs and getting there as close to 5:00 as you can to ensure you get good seats.

If you do want to spend money on tickets, there are two options, the Early Bird Access and the Reserved Ticket, if you want early access to the rooftop and a more VIP experience.

For more information and to RSVP to the event, check out their website: https://janssmarketplace.com/events/4th-of-july-fireworks-spectacular-2/

Oaks Mall

In addition to seeing the fireworks from Janss Marketplace, you can also view them from the Oaks Mall, located off of Hillcrest Drive. Parking for the show will be located in the East Lot outside the AMC theater. There will also be some portable restrooms around that parking lot. The mall will close at 6pm that day, although some restaurant hours may vary, so if you want to get a bite to eat before the fireworks show, there might be some places to eat at. Fair warning, there might be a lot of people there thinking of doing the same thing, so you may want to consider booking a reservation if you’re set on one of the restaurants in the mall.

Fireworks Spectacular in Westlake Village

Westlake Village will also be having their own 4th of July celebration, complete with a fireworks show. It’ll be held at the Westlake Golf Course. The doors open at 5pm, and the event begins at 6pm, ending with a fireworks show at around 9:10 pm. You can enjoy activities like live music, food and drink, and a putting contest. For the kids, there will be inflatable jumpers they can bounce around in. No outside alcohol will be allowed, although it will be available for purchase to enjoy at the event. There will also be handicap seating available when viewing the fireworks show.
