Honoring Our Four-Legged Friends

~ Natalia Radcliffe ~

This week is host to both National Hug Your Dog Day and National Pet Day! We want to take this opportunity these holidays present to give our own four-legged friends some extra love.

When you come to visit us, at some point you’ll most likely run into one of our many fur babies. Whether that is our adorkable mule Jorge, calm and quiet ponies Jenny or Boomer, our two goats, Billy and Jack, lovable dogs Roxie and Montana, or proud momma cat Cleo and her babies, there is a good chance you’ll see one of our furry family members around the property, whether you are staying at one of our AirBnb’s or here for a photoshoot or film shoot.

If you haven’t already met them either in person or through one of our other blogs, let us introduce you to them!

Our mule Jorge is the definition of adorkable. Sometimes, he acts like a dog more than a mule! He’s eager to meet any new people, oftentimes running up to be the first one to greet you.

Our pony Jenny is a bit calmer. She’s a Palomino pony and Jorge’s mom.

Boomer is our other pony, a black and white paint, and is a bit shyer. We think he didn’t have the best life before finding a home with us, but with some tender loving care, we have seen him bloom into a content, quiet member of the family. He absolutely loves children, whether he’s being led by them or ridden.

We also have two goats, Billy and Jack. Make sure to say hi if you see them!

Nala is our oldest and only indoor cat. She’s 14 years old! She’s an elegant elder to our younger cats.

Our cat Cleo is mostly an indoor cat who usually stays at the main house on the property. She is a very chill cat, unless something is endangering her babies. Then she is a momma cat.

Brothers Tommy and Tigger. Sadly, we lost Tigger. The sweet cat lives on in our warm memories.. Photo by Meggan Kimberley.

Speaking of Cleo, these are three  of her babies from two different litters who now have become part of our family!  Tommy is almost not even a kitten anymore, being over a year old already. The other two are from a more recent litter, and are still growing into their full size.

Lastly is our rescue breeder cat Romeo. We think he was kept in a small cage with no real human contact, only used to breed. He went crazy and the breeder just gave him away because he was totally wild. With love and patience he has become a family member although still a little wild. We must not forget our guest John who we are keeping for owner Meggan’s son Gavin.

Our dog Montana is a big lover, always eager to meet new people. Like Nala, Cleo and her babies, he usually calls the main house his home, although you can sometimes see him accompanying Prospector Ranch owner Meggan as she is tending to things on the property. Roxie is our rescue cattle dog and Monty’s BFF. She is the sweetest dog you will ever meet!

For all of you who have a pet, take a moment this week to give them some extra love or a special hug. Our four-legged family members can enrich our lives and bring a smile to our faces, making our days just a little less stressful, just a little more bright. If you are looking for Airbnbs where your pet can accompany you on your travels, our very own vintage 1972 Airstream is pet friendly!
